IMS/Functional Dry Needling

INTRAMUSCULAR STIMULATION OR FUNCTIONAL DRY NEEDLING

We can treat sore muscles through Intramuscular stimulation (IMS) or functional dry needling (FDN)  techniques. You won't have to worry about the large, sharp needs that are used for injections when you come for your appointment. The needles we use are smaller and have a rounded tip which makes them much more comfortable.

Through IMS/FDN we can improve the communication between your nerves and muscles. This could lead to improved muscle tension, function and pain.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The amount of needles and where they are used depends on you and the type of injury. The needles we use are sterile and are inserted only centimetres into the muscle. It is common to experience aches, muscle twitches or mild discomfort around the treatment area afterwards. Typically this may last for a day or two. We recommend to drink lots of water and keep moving after treatment to reduce this soreness.
